Property Summaries
Australia
Mega Uranium has uranium projects across Australia ranging from greenfield exploration projects to projects with defined uranium resources. The uranium projects cover about 20,000 square kilometers of ground in Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
Lake Maitland – The Lake Maitland project in Western Australia has a defined resource of 23.7 million pounds U3O8. Mega is advancing the project rapidly with the goal of being in production by the end of 2011. Mega has agreed to sell 35% of the project to Japan Australia Resources Development Co. Ltd. and Itochu Corporation. These companies will fund 35% of the capital cost to go into production and will purchase the uranium produced.
Ben Lomond Project – The Ben Lomond Project has a defined resource of 7.9 million pounds U3O8 in the indicated category and 2.8 million pounds inferred. The project also has a significant molybdenum credit. A bankable feasibility study was completed in 1982, before anti-uranium mining legislation stopped development of the project.
Georgetown Project – The Georgetown Project is over 750 square kilometers in northern Queensland containing historic uranium resources in addition to a modern resource of 5.95 million pounds U3O8 indicated and 0.38 million pounds inferred. In addition to advancing both modern and historic resources, Mega is doing discovery work including airborne magnetic-radiometric surveys and ground work to try to identify other discoveries within the project.
Mega has a number of other properties in Australia in various stages of exploration.
Canada
Mega’s involvement in Canadian uranium exploration plays is significant. Mega has, or is working with companies that have land holdings in the Athabaska Basin, the Thelon Basin and Labrador’s Central Mineral Belt. Through the acqusition of Twenty Seven Capital Corp., Mega also has uranium projects in Yukon, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories in Canada and one project in northwest Mexico.
Cameroon
Mega holds a 92% interest in Mega Uranium Cameroon which holds three properties totalling over 4,500 square kilometers. Limited historical drilling has intersected significant uranium mineralization. Airborne surveys, followed by ground radiometrics, sampling and limited drilling of select targets have lead to a drilling program planned to test further targets.
Mongolia
Mega is working with Red Hill Energy Inc. on exploration of Red Hill’s portfolio of Mongolian uranium properties. The 8 properties cover a total area of 1850 square kilometers. Exploration to date has not intersected significant uranium mineralisation.
South America
Mega holds properties in Argentina, Bolivia and Columbia that are prospective for uranium mineralization. In Argentina, Mega is the largest holder in the Cretaceous San Jorge Gulf Basin and the Sierra Pintada Uranium district. These two areas contain 10 million pound and 30 million pound U3O8 resources respectively. In Columbia, Mega holds over 6,700 square kilometers of land including a farm-in agreement with AngloGold Ashanit Colombia SA to earn 75% in AngloGold’s uranium tenements.
