Alpha Minerals Inc. – Uranium and Gold in North America
Overview
Alpha Minerals (TSXV:AMW) is a junior exploration company with a main focus on Uranium and Gold. The Company has projects in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Although most of Alpha’s projects are solo ventures, it is also involved with partners such as Rio Tinto, Logan Resoures, Acme Resources and Fission Energy. Alpha Minerals and Fission Energy, share a 50-50 joint venture at the Patterson Lake South Project in Saskatchewan. The Patterson Lake South Property is recognized as the latest discovery in the Athabasca Basin: “Alpha Minerals Hits 12.5m at 2.49% U3O8 Near Surface At PLS”.
Key Properties
Athabasca Basin Project – Saskatchewan, Canada

Alpha’s Athabasca Basin Projects total over 100,000 hectares spread out across Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin region. The most advanced of the projects is the Patterson Lake South Property.
Alpha Minerals Inc. and Fission Energy form the 50/50 Patterson Lake South Joint Venture that includes claims that straddle the southwestern margin of the Athabasca Basin. The joint venture includes 17 claims (approximately 25,450 hectares). The Patterson Lake South Property (“PLS”) is accessible by road with primary access from all-weather Highway 955, which runs north to the former Cluff Lake mine (greater than 60 million pounds of U3O8 produced), and passes through the nearby UEX-Areva Shea Creek discoveries located 50 kilometres to the north, currently under active exploration and development.
In June of 2011 Alpha Minerals discovered a Uranium boulder train with “off-scale” radioactivity at Patterson Lake South. Several of the deposits that made up the Cluff Lake Mine were located by following up uranium boulder fields significantly smaller than the one discovered by the PLS JV. To the Companies knowledge, the PLS boulder field; In terms of area, magnitude and size, is the largest-known boulder field in the basin.
In April 2013, assay results from drill hole PLS13-053 were reported.
PLS13-053 is part of the R390E zone which now has a drill indicated strike length of 30m, is located approximately 375m drill grid east of the Patterson Lake discovery hole PLS12-022 at the R000E zone. Composited drill hole mineralized intersections for PLS13-053 returned two broad zones of uranium mineralization separated by 4.5m of core below cut-off grade:
UPPER URANIUM ZONE = 49.5m (66.0m – 115.5m):
49.5m @ 6.26 U3O8
Includes 6.0m @ 35.0% U3O8
Including 0.5m @ 45.0% U3O8
LOWER URANIUM ZONE = 16.5m (120.0m – 136.5m):
16.5m @ 2.63 U3O8
Includes 3.0m @ 13.19% U3O8
Alpha Minerals has filed a National Instrument 43-101 technical report entitled “Patterson Lake South Property” dated April 14th, 2013 on SEDAR.
Alpha Minerals will continue its exploration at Patterson Lake South. The exploration target at PLS is shallow, high-grade uranium mineralization hosted in basement rocks at approximately 50 metres below surface (that is, below glacial till and sediments). Uranium intersected to date is northeast of a uranium boulder field discovered at in 2011, one of the largest high-grade uranium boulder fields known in the Athabasca basin district. The PLS property is prospective both in the immediate area of the discovery, and along several kilometres of a northeasterly striking corridor of coincident EM conductors and a broad resistivity anomaly.
Donna Gold Property – British Columbia, Canada
Over the past three decades, a joint federal and provincial programme has carried out geochemical surveys in British Columbia. Lying in the Monashee Mountain Range and totalling 2173 ha, the Donna Gold Property lies centrally within one of the largest clusters of anomalous values in stream sediments for gold, as identified by the programme. In 2010, Alpha completed an initial drilling stage of targets within the known gold zones. The results yielded not only positive results within the trenching in the known zones, but also strong results leading westward into undrilled territory.
Highlights from the drill program:
- Near surface gold mineralization in identified in six out of seven drills
- DDH 10-4 High sulphide interval of 0.5 m with 19.35 g/t gold within vein system 2.3 m at approximately true width, grading 3.8 g/t gold
- DDH10-5: Veining in 7.5 m of core length, at approximately true width, with a grade of 1.67 g/t gold
- Silver and pathfinder element assays to be completed in anomalous gold zones

Mikwam Gold Property – Ontario, Canada
Located northeast of Timmins, Ontario the 100 percent owned project covers approximately 1,000 hectares. It is located on the historically prolific Berardi Deformation Zone, known for gold and other precious metals minerilzation. It is situated about 35km from Auzrion’s (TSX:ARZ) Producing Casa Berardi Gold Mine (Reserve 956,000 oz. Measured & Indicated 936,000 oz, Inferred 920,000oz December 2008).
Drill program highlights from the property have included:
- 4.10 g/t Gold over 19.0 metres,
- 4.99 g/t Gold over 13.0 metres,
- 6.32 g/t Gold over 5.6 metres.
Drilling by Alpha Minerals shows that the mineralization is open to depth and along strike.
